Shadows of the Void

Dear shipmates–you who have embarked on this epic voyage with me, what can I say? Not only did hundreds of you download a copy of Starbound from Instafreebie, a good number of you went and bought the book!

What’s more, two reviews have already appeared on Amazon and Goodreads.

I’m deeply touched by your kindness and your interest in my writing, and I hardly know what to say. So many copies of Starbound were downloaded that Instafreebie have decided to feature the book on their website for a whole week.

Thank you very, very much.

For those who missed last week’s email, you can still download a free copy of this prequel to my Shadows of the Void series here.

I’ve received some inquiries about when Shadows of the Void book 8 will be published. Chinese New Year and a couple of anthology calls delayed me, but with luck and favourable solar winds, Mars Born should appear in April. I’m aiming for the first half of April, and that should be achievable because I already have most of the story in my head. I just have type it out!

I’m very excited to write this stage of the story, which sees Jas returning to her birthplace for the first time since she left it at twelve years of age.

Have you ever gone back to the place where you grew up? I have. It’s hard to describe that feeling when you compare your childhood memories with your perceptions as an adult. It’s going to be interesting to explore those emotions with Jas and maybe find out a little more about her past!

To keep your reading devices running hot this week, I have two great ebooks and a whole host of epic Instafreebie novels for you. I also have KIndle Paperwhite competition.

First, check out Justice Is Calling and Liberty. Both of these novels are first-in-series books, and they both feature awesome female main characters. They’re also only 99 cents!

The History of the World wasn’t what Valerie was taught.

The daughter of a vampire and sister of a devil walking, Valerie finds out she has something neither her brother nor her father possess:

She has Honor.

Now, she needs to flee a brother who leaves her for dead. Because, if there is one thing Valerie understands?

It’s that Justice Doesn’t Turn the Other Cheek.

150 years after a near apocalypse, the world is rebuilding. Survival has become the only rule, and justice is in short supply. Now, Justice has come calling.

Justice Is Calling is part of The Kurtherian Gambit Universe.

Struggling with newfound sentience and desperately trying to repair itself, The Indescribable Joy of Destruction is a ship trying to find a new home. In a galaxy torn apart by generations of civil war, that isn’t an easy task. Tired of being used as a killing machine, it has a huge decision to make: hide and save itself, or help other artificial intelligences achieve freedom. Unable to make the decision alone, it revives the sole human aboard – the enemy officer who crippled it.

Commander Olivia Johnson wakes to find herself in the infirmary of a strange vessel. Her nightmares deepen when she discovers it is the ship that attacked her destroyer. Even as she recovers from her physical injuries, she can’t get past her survivor’s guilt. She might have failed to protect her crew, but she vows to take revenge on their killer.

When the ship uncovers a genocidal plot by the commander’s own admirals, Johnson realises just what is at stake. Together, the AI ship and the human officer must recruit outsiders from both sides. Training the misfits in battle to prevent the atrocity may be an impossible task, but running and hiding is no longer an option.

And finally, you can enter a competition to win a Kindle Paperwhite worth US$120. It costs nothing to enter, and the device comes already loaded with several books. Go here to try your luck!

How has your week been? Things have been quiet here. I’ve been thinking more and more about the UK and our plan to return there in a couple of years–a little bit like Jas returning to Mars, except my background isn’t remotely as interesting! I’m looking forward to reconnecting with my roots and checking out things I’ve missed, like this recent discovery of an Iron Age horde worth £3.2 million!

I’ve also been trying to record a video for my Patreon page, but I need good light, and it’s been cloudy and wet all week. Hey ho.

I hope life has been treating you well wherever you are.

Happy reading!
