The Concordia Deception

Our starship is travelling at Warp Factor 9 at the moment, which is 900 billion kilometres per hour or about 830 times the speed of light. Or at least that’s how it feels.

Two new series are on the starter blocks! Daughter of Discord comes out in two weeks (don’t preorder it if you want the discount price – I’ll send you a link when it’s published), and The Concordia Deception appears in June as one of a box set of brand new first-in-series books. I can’t wait to show you my two new books. In fact, you can see mockups of all three Space Colony One books here on Facebook.

I’m especially excited about Daughter of Discord because I included some influences from Chinese culture that I’ve been introduced to while living here in Taiwan. If you’ve read Star Mage Exile you’ll know the main character is Carina Lin. Lin is a very common Chinese surname (林), and is in fact the surname I chose as my Chinese name. The resemblance between Carina and myself ends there, however! You might also remember that Carina calls her grandmother Nai Nai, which is Chinese for one’s father’s mother (奶奶).

ARC copies have gone out, so if you’re a member of the review crew, check your inbox. If you’re interested in joining the review crew, send me a link to a review you’ve written on Star Mage Exile, or if you’d like to receive a free review copy of The Concordia Deception when it’s ready, send me a link to a review you’ve written on Night of Flames. Both of these prequel books are free through the link at the bottom of this bulletin.

Phew! I hope life is less hectic in your part of the world. I’m looking forward to being a bit more sociable when this rush is over. Maybe we’ll have time for some summer competitions.

One of this week’s book suggestions is also related to the Star Mage SagaBeyond the Black includes a story from Carina Lin’s childhood. I’ll let you guess which story it is. Another great 99-cent offer is Aurora Springer’s Grand Master’s Pawn.

Grand Master’s Pawn

One young woman challenges the secret rulers of the galaxy, and risks a perilous love.

Violet dreams of exploring exotic planets as a Grand Master’s pawn. When life-threatening cracks appear in the teleportal web, Violet is tasked with investigating the disruption. Suspicions point to the twelve Grand Masters, and she must penetrate their curtain of secrecy to identify the culprit. Her challenges escalate when she meets the enigmatic man behind the griffin avatar. Armed with only her erratic powers and a mishmash of allies, she must challenge the most powerful beings in the galaxy.

Reminiscent of the science fiction stories of Andre Norton, Violet’s perilous adventures are sweetened by romance and a sprinkle of laughter.
