If you filled in the survey last week, many thanks! I’m going to keep it open just another couple of days and I’ll announce the winner of the free autographed paperback next week.

As you may know, I lived in Taiwan for eight years before returning to the UK in June. Though it’s good to be home, I’ve found myself homesick for my adopted country. This is because it’s going to be Chinese New Year soon, a very special time in Taiwan. I miss my Taiwanese friends and that happy, Christmas-like feeling of the season. Luckily I have the hothouses at Cambridge Botanic Garden to remind me of the warm, humid atmosphere. I included a pic below.

I will return, one day. In the meantime I have my writing to sustain me. My Star Mage Saga is somewhat influenced by the time I spent living in a Chinese culture. For example, the main character, Carina Lin, calls her grandmother Nai Nai, which means father’s mother, and she writes Chinese characters to Cast when she uses her special powers.

Why am I blathering on about all this? It’s because I want to give you a heads up that I’ll be raising the price of book one in the series, Daughter of Discord, soon. So if you haven’t read this next part of the story after your free prequel Star Mage Exile, now’s the time to nab your copy.

Daughter of Discord, Star Mage Saga Book 1

A star mage is about to risk everything.

Carina Lin is a mage with a mission. Desperate to find her long-lost kin, she’s abandoned her life as a merc.

A clue has led her to the home planet of one of the most powerful clans in the galaxy. Here, she hopes to find other mages like her, but it isn’t going to be easy. If her powers are revealed, she risks slavery and torture.

At the same time, galactic war is brewing and the opposing forces are looking for veterans to conscript.

Carina must find her people and avoid being sucked back into space warfare. If she fails at either task, she’ll lose her reason for living, and perhaps her life.

Apex Aer-Ki Jyr

Apex Aer-Ki Jyr

Author of the epic Star Force Origin series, Aer-ki Jyr’s impressive galactic world-building is on full display in this stand-alone space opera adventure reminiscent of Ryk Brown, Christopher Nuttall, B.V. Larson, and Evan Currie.

A new dawn is coming.

It’s been eons since Humans controlled the universe. Defeated by a mysterious enemy, the downfall of Humanity brought about a virtual dark age. Culture and technology stagnated in their absence. But now, trade is once again flourishing as Human artifacts resurface throughout the galaxy, resurrecting long forgotten advancements.

And one such discovery might very well alter the course of the future forever.

An epic space adventure, Aer-ki Jyr’s APEX is a breathless race to the ultimate prize, with the very fate of the stars hanging in the balance.

Publishing News

I’m happy to report Mercenary Mage, book four in my Star Mage Saga is going really well. In this book, Carina decides to rope her former merc crew, the Black Dogs, into her schemes to find the way back to Earth. Getting to the part where she makes contact with them took a little longer than I’d imagined it would! But I’m there now and looking forward to reacquainting myself with that rascally crowd. I’m still waiting for Amazon to link up the series. As soon as it does I’ll give you the preorder link.

More free audio chapters of The Galathea Chronicles are available here.

I’m delighted to announce The Concordia Deception has been included in an anthology of fantastic books by writers I admire. But that’s all I can say about it for now. I’ll tell you more soon.

Enjoy your books!
