It’s been a bittersweet week. The cabin boy entered the final year of teenagerhood on Sunday and we had a lovely party with friends and cake. (The friends attended and the cake got eaten.) The cake was the chocolate brownie raspberry ripple cheesecake I told you about in an earlier bulletin. See a pic at the bottom if you can’t remember.
It was also a sad occasion because the cabin boy will resign his commission soon. Not that, I think, cabin boys ever hold commissions, but he’ll be leaving the ship to attend Cardiff University.
As the last of the three cabin boys who served aboard Starship JJ Green, his departure is the most momentous. The ship is going to seem quiet and empty without him. But all you shipmates will be here to cheer up your captain, right?
On a happier note, the release of the final Star Legend book, The Defiant creeps closer. I published a little taster on our Facebook page:
“The strange man’s hand remained on her shoulder. She’d almost forgotten about it in all the excitement, but then an odd feeling emanated from his touch. A sensation flowed from it, a hot, liquid feeling, like blood pouring from a wound, but instead it was flowing into her. An energized thrill passed through her, leaving every part feeling stronger. Her muscles no longer ached from running, her panting ceased, and her heart rate slowed and steadied. Calmness and confidence suffused her.”
Excited? Me too, hehe.
If you’ve read and loved the Star Legend series so far, be prepared for what I can safely say is an interesting conclusion.
You’ll also be interested to hear there will be an exclusive bonus story for shipmates and Kickstarter supporters, and you can vote on what it is! Next week’s bulletin will feature a poll on whether the story should be about Arthur or Taylan and Wright.
In the meantime, have you heard that Space Colony One books 1 – 3 are currently free? The boxset has had a smashing run at most of the online bookstores, picking up 1100+ star ratings on Amazon.
Terror stalks a new world colony
After nearly two hundred years’ space travel, humanity’s first deep space colony expedition has arrived at its new home.
Ethan, the descendant of six generations who lived and died aboard ship, treads on soil and feels the wind and rain for the first time.
But the new planet is not the paradise the scientists predicted. Alien predators lurk beyond the camp’s perimeter, and stowaway saboteurs are determined no one will survive.
Tensions in the new colony rise, and Ethan must fight to preserve the last hope of humankind.
