The shortest (or longest if you’re in the southern hemisphere) day of the year is a turning point that’s ignored too much. Sure, a crowd gathers at Stonehenge and performs a few rituals, but generally, the days that get all the attention are traditional religious holidays or commemorations of historical events.
Here aboard the starship we’re changing all that. The summer solstice is an astronomical phenomenon and we’re all about stars, space, and planetary rotation.
Funnily enough, a harbinger of the approaching yearly observance occurred here on Sunday evening, when an amazing sunset lit the sky. It’s come to light (lol) since that a combination of Saharan dust and the setting sun hitting cumulus and altocumulus clouds caused the skies to turn pinky-orange over the East of England. Check out the bottom of the bulletin for a pic.
In commemoration of this special day, the starship is offering some cheap stories. All J.J. Green short story collections for 99c/99p or a little bit cheaper if you download direct. The first collection, There Comes a Time, was my very first publication.
