I posted early last week, now this time I’m posting a little late! I had my dates muddled after arranging with the lovely Mary McGuire (M.T. McGuire) that we would jointly promote our comedy science fiction first-in-series. Next week the ship’s bulletin returns to its regular Tuesday slot, I promise.

How was your weekend? I had the pleasure of meeting up with some writer friends. You can see them here on our Facebook page. Writing for a living can be quite isolating and so I love seeing my fellow authors. Some, like Bradley Verdell and Pat Woods, I’ve known most of the time I’ve lived in Taiwan and they’ve helped me become a better writer.

Last time I was telling you about my new venture to side-step all the antics at certain retailers. For example, did you know that the ebooks you buy from Amazon are only in fact rented and the store can take them back at any time?! If you’re used to downloading my free books from Bookfunnel you shouldn’t have any problems with buying direct from my sales pages, and I’ll be able to offer you special content and cheaper books. I have something exclusive lined up for Dark Mage Rises that I’m very excited about.

I think that offering my books direct may turn out to be popular. When I included a link to my test page last week, several shipmates went and bought the book! That made me feel bad because I’d planned on discounting it, as you’ll see, so I’ve sent refunds for the difference in price.

If you’ve been on aboard the starship right from the beginning of our voyage nearly three years ago, you’ll probably remember my comedy sci-fi series, Carrie Hatchett, Space Adventurer. For your 99-cent science fiction books this week I’m re-launching Carrie into space with her Mission Improbable, and I strongly advise you to check out M.T. McGuire’s hilarious Few Are Chosen, first in her K’Barthan series, too.

Few Are Chosen

Meet The Pan of Hamgee: coward, unwilling adventurer and, by some miracle, K’Barth’s longest surviving outlaw. He just wants a quiet life so working as getaway driver is probably a bad career move. Then he falls in love at first sight with a woman he hasn’t even met who comes from an alternative reality. That’s when things
really begin to get complicated.

Meet Ruth Cochrane: she’s the Chosen One, destined to play a pivotal role in saving K’Barth from a cruel dictator. She’s never heard of K’Barth, though. She’s a public relations executive from London and she’s totally unaware of the chaos about to hit her life.

Meet Lord Vernon: power hungry psychopath on the brink of world domination. He wants to cement his hold on K’Barth by kidnapping the Chosen One and forcing her to marry him. Only one person is standing
in his way: someone who doesn’t even realise it, The Pan of Hamgee. For The Pan, and Ruth, that’s a deadly problem.

Mission Improbable

If you like light-hearted, feel-good science fiction, you’ll love Mission Improbable.

Carrie Hatchett’s been a dog walker, ice cream seller and birthdaygram girl—the clean kind. All she wants is a proper job. But Transgalactic Intercultural Community Crisis Liaison Officer isn’t what she had in mind. And neither is saving the galaxy.

Carrie’s a low-achieving daydreamer. After providing a good home for her butt-ugly dog and crazy cat, her biggest challenge in life is to avoid being fired, again.

But a strange green mist sucks her beneath her kitchen sink, and an unusual clerical error leads to an offer she foolishly doesn’t refuse.

In settling a conflict between the mechanical placktoids and the mysterious oootoon, Carrie reveals a threat to the entire galactic empire.
