Just a quick ship’s bulletin this week. Starship JJ Green just landed and the captain’s pretty tired!

You might remember that last week I held a competition to guess where we were headed. The answer and competition winner are here.

This week’s books are a wide-ranging bunch. I’ve told you about my story for Pew Pew – Sex, Spaceships and Guns…Oh My! and posted a couple of snippets on my blog. Well, today I’m bringing you the first book discounted to 99 cents.

But wait, there’s more! The Pew Pew anthology editor, M.D. Cooper, has written an amazing set of military sci-fi novels with strong female leads. The prequel to his new series, Rika Mechanized, is currently free.

Rika Mechanized

A Novella of the Orion War (Aeon 14)
Rika is a scout mech, once human, now she is the property of the Genevian military.

Rika’s crime was small, stealing food. But when faced with a five-year prison term, or conscription in the Genevian military, she chose war.

She had no idea what that conscription would entail.

Now little of Rika’s human body remains, and she serves as an SMI-2 scout mech, the meat inside a cyborg body. She, and others like her, are sent in ahead of the human soldiers to tip the scales of war.

But the enemy has upped the ante and the mechs of Rika’s fireteam will have to go up against unimaginable odds if they want to serve their time and become human again.

I and the rest of the Starship JJ Green crew had a great few days’ break, but I’m glad to return to my writing routine. I have several anthologies to write for as well as my new space colonization series. On top of all that, I have many ideas for a science fantasy series buzzing around my head.

I hope you too are happy and busy this August. I think I may hold another competition soon for your vacation destinations.

Happy reading!
