OH MY WORD! It’s Christmas in two weeks (nearly)! How did that happen? I’m at a total loss, and the same thing happens every year. If you were unaware, consider yourself duly warned.

This week I’ve been dealing with my lack of acclimatisation to the British winter. I do this by going outside as little as possible. I listen to the wind in the chimney and the rain battering the window, remark on how cold it looks outside and then return to my writing.

On the plus side, on those days when the skies clear, I’ve been witnessing some amazing sunrises out of the front of our house. Whenever I see a beautiful sky, I open the front door briefly, surprising the pedestrians with my pyjamas and dressing gown, snap a picture (see below), and then close the door again, grateful that my walk to work only entails going upstairs.

What’s the weather like in your part of the world? Post a pic in our Facebook group or send me one to jenny@jjgreenauthor.com . I’d love to see it.

Many thanks to everyone who downloaded a free copy of The Concordia Deception last week. I’m including the book again for anyone who missed out, plus a great bargain book. Rika’s Marauders is 1600+ pages of exciting science fiction for only 99 cents or 99p.

The Genevians are at war with Nietzschea

…and they’re losing.

In a last-ditch hope, the Genevian mech program was founded. Its goal to augment humans into cyborg fighting machines; mechanized warriors sent to hold the front lines against an enemy that was storming a hundred worlds.

Yet few wished to undergo the brutal process, and so criminals were used, their minds enslaved by control chips and obedience enforced through discipline.

Rika is one such victim.

Forged into a second generation scout mech, she is sent to the front lines where she serves with distinction, crushing countless enemies beneath her clawed feet.

Get Rika’s Marauders here and follow the ultimate rags-to-riches story, where one woman rises up and saves not only herself, but her people.

Facing the enemy at the gates

All her life Cariad had one dream: to participate in humanity’s colonization of deep space. After topping her field as a geneticist, and then spending 184 years in cryonic suspension, she’s achieved her goal.

But the new planet is not the paradise the scientists predicted. Alien predators come out at night, ready to feast on the new arrivals. What’s more, saboteurs have stowed away aboard the ship and are determined to destroy the new colony.

To defeat the settlers’ enemies, Cariad must enlist the help of the disgruntled Gens, last in the line of generational colonists who lived and died on the long journey to the stars, and who hate the Woken scientists.

Infighting and strife plague Cariad’s efforts. If the colony’s factions don’t pull together, the flame of hope for humanity will be snuffed out.

Publishing News

I managed to record two chapters of The Galathea Chronicles this week. Download the free mp3s here and here, or find them under audio files on my blog.

I also want to tell you a little bit about what’s happening in 2020. As I’ve said in previous bulletins, once I’ve finished your free Carrie Hatchett Christmas story, I’m going to begin the next three books in my Star Mage Saga. (I’ve already commissioned the covers, woohoo!)

Like most indie writers, I have to choose between putting my books exclusively in Kindle Unlimited (KU) on Amazon or publishing on Apple, Kobo and other online bookstores as well as Amazon. It’s really hard to choose because although KU is often the most lucrative choice I want all my readers to be able to buy my books.

I get around this problem by making my latest releases available briefly on Patreon before they appear at Amazon. But that doesn’t work for older books. Consequently, I’ve decided I’m going to take Star Mage Saga books 1 – 3 out of KU soon and see how they do at other bookstores. So if you have a KU subscription, now’s the time to download the books. And if you’re a non-Amazon reader, your patience will be rewarded soon.

2020 also brings an exciting new series, but more on that in later bulletins.

Enjoy your books!
