Ahhh…After two storms on consecutive weekends (!) the sun is finally shining here in the East of England. Well, it did for a short time this morning, when I snapped a pic of the ship’s cat looking red velvety and gorgeous as he enjoyed a rare patch of sunlight. We’re leaving on our Edinburgh trip in a couple of days so I hope the reasonably nice weather holds out. Next week I’ll post some pics!
If you’ve been receiving the ship’s bulletin for a while you’ll know I always try to include free or very cheap books. This is to thank you for being a loyal shipmate and staying aboard on our deep space voyage. I also know many readers are on fixed incomes or prefer to try new authors at minimal cost before deciding whether to read any more of their work.
Today I’m showcasing the free books I currently have on offer at all bookstores. Mission Improbableand Generation are the first books in my Carrie Hatchett, Space Adventurer and Shadows of the Void series. If you pick them up I hope you enjoy them and also download the free bonus reading Carrie Hatchett’s Christmas and Starbound.
Many thanks to new Patreon subscriber. Shaun Eastment. Remember, if you want to receive your copy of Mercenary Mage, book 4 in my Star Mage Saga next week, one month earlier than it appears on Amazon, sign up as a 2nd tier patron.

Carrie Hatchett, Space Adventurer
If you like Dr. Who, you’ll love Mission Improbable.
Carrie Hatchett’s been a dog walker, ice cream seller and birthdaygram girl—the clean kind. All she wants is a proper job. But Transgalactic Intercultural Community Crisis Liaison Officer isn’t what she had in mind. And neither is saving the galaxy.
Carrie’s a low-achieving daydreamer. After providing a good home for her butt-ugly dog and crazy cat, her biggest challenge in life is to avoid being fired, again.
But a strange green mist sucks her beneath her kitchen sink, and an unusual clerical error leads to an offer she foolishly doesn’t refuse.
In settling a conflict between the mechanical placktoids and the mysterious oootoon, Carrie reveals a threat to the entire galactic empire.
Join Carrie on her adventures here today! Complete series.
Shadows of the Void
Kickass sci-fi heroine versus deadly aliens.
Growing up as a Martian on Earth has left Jas Harrington solitary, quick-tempered, and with zero tolerance for fools. All plus points when working as chief security officer aboard prospecting starships.
Jas’ latest berth is aboard the Galathea, which trawls the reaches of the galaxy seeking precious minerals and rare resources. She thinks it’s a routine trip. She’s wrong.
An inspection of a far-flung planet leaves Jas suspicious that there’s more to the place than meets the eye. If only she could convince the captain of the need for caution, but she might as well wish for a tasty meal in the ship’s canteen.
When the captain disciplines Jas for insubordination, she has only two allies: a timid navigator and the second pilot, who has the hots for her. Not that Jas notices.
All hell breaks loose, and Jas’ skills are put to the ultimate test. Can she enlist the help of the only two friends she has? She’s in a race against time to prevent the aliens from achieving their goal: Generation.
If she fails, the ship’s crew, the galactic empire, and humanity itself are at risk.
Generation is book one in the fast-paced, action-packed Shadows of the Void space opera. Complete series.

Publishing News
I’ve had an urge to change the title and cover of book 1 in my Star Mage Saga for a while. I didn’t think the old title of Daughter of Discord worked very well. So last week I took the plunge. Meet the new incarnation, Star Mage Quest!
The manuscript for Mercenary Mage has gone to my editor. By the time I’d finished with Carina Lin I felt quite sorry for her and I have to confess I shed a few tears as I was writing. But that usually means a good book. Now it’s on to Accursed Space and another episode in Carina’s story as she tries to find a place where mages can live in freedom.
Enjoy your books!
