Yay for rain! Seriously, I love the stuff. It’s been raining here in Taipei for a week. Heavy, warm, tropical downpours that send you into a drowsy afternoon doze as you listen to the sound. I hope that if it’s been raining where you are you like it as much as I do.
I was reminded of my love of rain while I was re-reading The Concordia Deception a couple of days ago. At the end of the first chapter the Gens encounter rain for the first time. The scene was added in the final round of edits when I was trying to imagine what it might be like to have lived my entire life on a starship and then set foot on a planet’s surface.
Reading the first two Space Colony One books helps me to keep things consistent while writing book 3, The Scythian Crisis. It’s easy enough to keep a record of characters’ eye colours and so on, but the feel of a book is something you have to absorb again before reproducing it.
(If you have no idea what I’m talking about, pick up your copy of the prequel, <em>Night of Flames, below. Books 1 and 2 will be discounted in my next newsletter, scheduled for this Sunday.)
If you’d like to see my new writing spot I’ve discovered to write my 22nd novel, pop over to my post on our Facebook group.
But that’s enough about my books. Check out my two special 99-cent offerings. Jason Werbeloff is releasing an entire 6-book series all at once, and book 1 is discounted. Or for some light-hearted fun, take a look at L.A. Johnson’s new Octopus Ally series (yes, you read that right.)
Star Phase Exodus
Check out Jason Werbeloff’s brand new space exploration novel, Star Phase Exodus.
In 2072, the Earth is dying. Our only hope is to reach for the stars.
We sacrifice everything to build the only interstellar colonization ship. We tear apart families. Deny hope to millions. All so an exceptional few, humanity’s greatest minds and purest hearts, can board her durantium hallways.
But not everyone wants us to reach our destination. And Nassas Duval, a hypochondriac off his meds, must stop them.

Overlord Brawl
This galaxy needs a leader who’s not afraid to fight dirty.
Sometimes, the only way to save a galaxy is to conquer it. The battle for power has begun, and the Neon Octopus has come to fight.
Soda, The Neon Octopus ex-Overlord, wants her job back and she’ll stop at nothing to get it. But when the board of directors in charge of the process meet an untimely demise, all at the same time, the rules change.
