Captaining a literary starship is sometimes surprisingly humdrum. When a release day draws near, I have my head down, racing to meet the deadline I’ve set myself and optimistically gave my editor all those short weeks ago.

The cabin boy thinks no one’s watching his shenanigans, the chief engineer finds he’s become the cook too, and the ship’s cat…Well, let’s face it, the ship’s cat is just fine, no matter what turmoil goes on around him.

I sometimes think it’s the cat who’s actually running the whole show.

My preoccupation with finishing my latest book means I don’t have an interesting experience or visit to tell you about this week, but I wanted to pass on a little light entertainment that made me chuckle during my brief work breaks.

I’ve been reading the Edinburgh Festival’s top jokes for each year. Scroll down to see my favourites.

Publishing News

I’m delighted to announce that Interstellar Mission is now available as a paperback!

But even more excitingly (if that isn’t a word I just made it one) I can finally announce the publication dates for Humanity’s Fight, Space Colony One. The Concordians continue to build their colony under the watchful, greedy eyes of the Scythians. What will happen when they return to claim their tribute? How can Cherry and the other colonists successfully defend their home?

Patreon supporters will receive their copy on 17/09/19

The book will go live on Amazon around 24 – 26/09/19

Limited discount period begins 01/10/19

Those are the dates and I’m determined to stick to them! Now all I need to do is to finish the book.
