The Fila Epiphany

Have you been receiving barrages of emails about the new EU privacy requirement, GDPR? Me too. Don’t worry, that’s the last time I’m going to mention it. Our starship has always been compliant–as if such things could affect us here in outer space.

Incidentally, have you heard of Asgardia? It’s the first space nation. To quote their mission statement: Asgardia was created with three top goals in mind: to ensure the peaceful use of space, to protect the Earth from space hazards, and to create a demilitarized and free scientific base of knowledge in space.

Noble aspirations, aren’t they? Your captain joined a couple of years ago in support of the organisation. Though humans have a tiny impact even on our own solar system at the moment, it’s good to start with the right intentions and have a voice in decisions made in high places.

My mind’s been travelling along those lines this week, though far into the future of space travel. I posted another snippet from The Concordia Deception, and after receiving fantastic feedback from beta readers, I’ll be putting the final touches to the book before sending it off to Michael Cooper and the Review Crew. There’s still time to join the crew and receive a free pre-publication copy. Just send me a link to a review you’ve already written on one of my books.

There’s also time to have your say in which cover I use for the upcoming promo of Mission Improbable. Pop over to our Facebook group, Starship JJ Green Shipmates to cast your vote.

Finally, now that I have the rights back to Star Mage Unleashed, a story from Carina Lin’s childhood, I decided I’m going to include it as bonus content in book two, Dark Mage Rises as part of my new direct sales option. More on that next time.

Two great fast-paced science fiction first-in-series books for you this week. Check out Kevin McLaughlin’s Accord of Honor and M.G. Herron’s The Auriga Project.

Spaceship and planet

Accord of Honor

Twenty peaceful years have passed since the Lunar Accords were signed, banning all nations or individuals from arming space ships for war – on pain of death for anyone who dares defy the order. But someone has at last broken that law. Ships of unknown origin are attacking freighters and kidnapping their crews, threatening the delicate peace between nations and worlds.

One man saw the danger, all those years ago – Admiral Nicholas Stein, hero and villain of the last war. He argued against the Accord and was ridiculed for it. He retreated to Mars, and has spent the last decades preparing for a conflict he’s always known would be inevitable.

Now he and his son Thomas are all that stands between humanity and a ruthless enemy who will stop at nothing to control space – and from there, enslave us all.

Futuristic landscape

The Auriga Project

Transported light years in a heartbeat

Ripped from Earth in a horrifying teleportation accident, archaeologist Eliana Fisk finds herself stranded on a strange planet whose denizens want her as a human sacrifice.

Can she stay out from under the knife long enough to find her way home? Or will the desperate natives and their bloodthirsty gods get to her first?

The Auriga Project is a fast-paced science fiction thriller with an edge of the fantastic. It’s a harrowing tale of survival against all odds, and the gateway to an ancient alien mystery.
