Following on from last week’s bulletin, your captain is happy to report some adventures in the summery British countryside. The starship travelled to Fleam Dyke, an ancient earthwork thought to have been constructed by the Anglo-Saxons as protection from the Britons, which is a bit rich considering the Brits were here first.
You can see a pic of the view from the dyke at the bottom of the bulletin. The dyke itself is basically just a high bank, about seven or eight metres tall – high for Cambridgeshire, hence the view. It’s the knowledge that the earthwork was built using simple tools and millions of hours of labour that makes it remarkable.
If you’re reading the Star Legend series, you’ll already know about my fascination with British ancient history and mythology. You’ll also be pleased to hear the writing for the final book, The Defiant, is going at a cracking pace. There are so many threads to bring together for this final episode in the story of maverick Taylan Ellis and Major Wright, as well as new threads leading to a hush-hush new sci-fi spinoff series.
More on that later.
Though the official public release date is 31st October, The Defiant is likely to be ready much earlier. Supporters on Patreon (welcome new patron Bobby Borland!) can expect to receive their copies in late August and the book should go live on Amazon around the end of September.
Audiobook listeners may also be interested to hear that book five, The Dauntless, is finally available on Audible and most online audio listening providers and libraries.
