What a crazy week it’s been aboard Starship JJ Green. Since the typhoon last weekend (many thanks to Bob who emailed to check we were all okay), I’ve finished off one story, started another and begun to prepare for a short trip we’re going to take next week.

The story I polished and sent off was Trash Beings of the Universe, Unite!, which will appear in Pew Pew Volume II in September. The story I began was Star Mage Exile, which I’m hoping military science fiction author Chris Fox will accept for his forthcoming science fantasy anthology.

With those projects in the pipeline, I’m bringing you something different this week. But I wanted to go over a little housekeeping first. A reader mentioned in an email that she didn’t have any of my books yet, and that made me realise that some of you might have missed out on the two free books that you receive for boarding JJ Green.

Carrie Hatchett’s Christmas

One more thing I’d like to say is a big thank you to Oldguy1, who left a very kind review on The Earth Chronicles.

Without any more ado, let me introduce you to this week’s discounted books. You may remember me telling you about The Expanding Universe Volume 2, which came out recently and is now reduced to 99 cents. I have a story in this anthology!

Another great new book that’s also 99 cents is John Triptych’s The Piranha Solution. I love the cover on this book so much.

Twenty-three talented authors. Twenty-three remarkable stories. One incredible science fiction collection.

The universe is expanding and these are some of its stories. Twenty-three bestselling and debut authors have created worlds where invasions are apocalyptic and space empires are in peril. The universe is beyond our understanding…and sometimes, what we don’t know can kill us.

From gruesome alien invasions to epic space battles, the second volume of The Expanding Universe will expand your imagination. Explore the possibilities that our infinite universe holds with psychic hunters, brave soldiers who battle vicious invaders, and brilliant engineers who must act quickly to save their crewmembers. And only in The Expanding Universe will you find mercenary nuns.

Chivalry in space, pirates versus drones, a starship teetering on the edge of a gravity well, and space marines doing what they do best—kicking ass—will have you on the edge of your seat, turning pages long into the night to find out what happens next. And only in The Expanding Universe will you find mercenary nuns.

When we discover we’re not alone in the universe, will you be prepared? Grab your copy of The Expanding Universe Volume 2 today and explore the worlds that these talented authors have created.

In the near future, a new space race begins. Private industry is now pushing the limits of human exploration and colonization. NASA has changed its mandate into a regulatory agency to oversee all US-based corporations and individuals involved in interplanetary expansion.

Stilicho Jones always has his hands full while working as a personal troubleshooter for eccentric trillionaire Errol Flux and his numerous cutting edge space projects. When a mysterious and potentially deadly situation threatens the colonies on Mars, Stilicho must team up with a feisty NASA special agent in a race against time to avert a looming catastrophe that could end any hope of inhabiting the Red Planet.

Check out The Piranha Solution. If you were ever inspired by the NASA Space Program, Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Kim Stanley Robinson’s Red Mars, Robert Zubrin’s The Case for Mars, or Andy Weir’s The Martian, then have a look at this newest, edge of your seat technothriller!

Those are not the only books I have for you voracious readers. Check out this selection of 99-cent scifi and fantasy books. Please bear in mind that the sale doesn’t begin until 5th August. Most of the books are already discounted, but if you see something you like and it’s still full price, just wait another day before checking again.

Can you guess where we’re off to next week? It’s a fairly short journey from our home in Taiwan, and the highlight of the trip from my husband’s perspective is going to be a visit to Marks and Spencer! Post your guess here on my Facebook page, or tweet me. I’ll pick the names of the winners out of a hat for a set of free ebooks of the whole Shadows of the Void series.

Before that, I have to take my son on a mountain hike as preparation for challenge in his first semester when he’s back at school. We’ll be climbing Mount Qixing on Sunday.

I hope you have something fun to do (and a little less tiring) this weekend.

Happy reading!
