It’s all go at Starship JJ Green this week. The space cadet (otherwise known as the son) is doing his end-of-year tests, and the ship’s captain (otherwise known as me) has been locked in her room writing the ship’s log. Meanwhile, the engineer (the captain’s husband) has been doing whatever he does in the engine room – best not to ask.
A story of mine called There Comes a Time appears today in a new science fiction anthology, The Officer. I’m proud of this story because it was one of the first that I sold, and it’s since been made into an audio play.
If you like stories that explore the military side of sci-fi, including the trials and tribulations of being an officer, check out a copy of this new anthology here.
See below for another couple of great books. Aurora Springer has just brought out the fourth book in her Grand Masters’ Galaxy series, and to celebrate, she’s dropping the price of the first book to 99 cents for a limited time.
Like The Officer, both Aurora’s books are available at most online bookstores, not just Amazon.
Are the Grand Masters the guardians of the galaxy or a threat to civilization? Empath Violet seeks the truth.
Violet dreams of exploring exotic planets as a Grand Master’s pawn. When life-threatening cracks appear in the teleportal web, Violet is tasked with investigating the disruption. Suspicions point to the twelve Grand Masters, and she must penetrate their curtain of secrecy to identify the culprit. Her challenges escalate when she meets the enigmatic man behind the griffin avatar. Armed with only her erratic powers and a mishmash of allies, she must challenge the most powerful beings in the galaxy.
Reminiscent of the science fiction stories of Andre Norton, Violet’s perilous adventures are sweetened by romance and a sprinkle of laughter.

Empath Violet embarks on a new and desperate mission to find her missing lover.
Violet’s happy family life is shattered when Athanor Griffin vanishes. The formidable Grand Master might have teleported anywhere in the galaxy. Violet strives to find her psychic partner, while looking after their baby and fulfilling his duties on the Council. Her frantic search uncovers a new threat to galactic civilization along with resurgence of the infamous Ixioth slavers. The Council dithers in response to her call for action, and even her former allies believe the Griffin is dead. She must risk her son, her psi-powers, and her life to rescue her beloved mate in the hope they can unite to fight the menace.

Are you reading my Shadows of the Void series? Are you curious about the back histories of the major characters? I’ve spilled the beans about how Carl Lingiari met Flux and about certain other significant events of his adolescence, and the story’s going to be available free to my Patreon supporters tomorrow. If you’d like to read it and take advantage of other benefits, sign up here.
Finally, I need your help with something this week if you can spare a minute or two. Now that I’ve nearly finished the first draft of Shadow War, I’ve been planning the first book in my next series. I’d like to know what you like and don’t like in science fiction. It would be great if you could head over to Facebook and answer these questions:
1. Do you prefer to read about the characters or do you like to be carried along by the plot?
2. Do you prefer a female or male protagonist?
3. Is scientific accuracy important to you?
4. Do you enjoy reading descriptions of starships, alien landscapes etc., or are you more interested in action and dialogue?
5. What’s your favourite scifi novel?
If you don’t do Facebook, please feel free to write to me at jenny@jjgreenauthor.com
Happy reading!
