Art is imitating life aboard our starship this week. I’m in the thick of writing Interstellar Mission, and our heroes have embarked on their journey into deep space.

They’re facing a lot of challenges in a starship that wasn’t built by humans yet humans are expected to travel in it. And then at their journey’s end they face the biggest challenge of all: saving the future of humankind.

My own journey isn’t nearly so important, and the destination isn’t anywhere near as interesting, but I can’t help seeing the parallels between my writing and my current reality. Thank goodness that moving halfway around the world is easier than it used to be. In olden times it really was like traveling to another planet.

I realised i hadn’t answered all the questions from the shipmates’ survey! One question I was asked was, Have you considered screenwriting?

The answer is: not for the foreseeable future. I have writing plans to take me to the end of 2020. But that doesn’t mean I can’t pitch my books to a production company to make into a science fiction TV series or film. Which of my series do you think would work well on the small or big screen? Let me know here on our Facebook page or reply to this email.

The two exciting series by other authors I have for you this week are Ian Cannon’s new release, Bad Bargain, and a longstanding favourite you may not have met yet, Amy J. Murphy’s Fallen. Both novels are great deep space adventures.

THIRTY PLANETS. TWO SUNS. ONE WAR. DANGER EVERYWHERE.

Having deserted the endless combat of an interstellar war together, Tawny and Benjar Dash spend their lives navigating a war-torn galaxy as interplanetary cargo runners. Now, evading both the Imperium and the Underworld Cabal presents a constant set of challenges … especially once technical data on the war’s most lethal moon cannon falls into their hands.

Pursued by a host of money-hungry bounty hunters, all bets are off. But when Benjar is captured by a nefarious conspiracy group hell-bent on dominating the entire solar system, it’s up to Tawny to strike a bad bargain with one of their biggest enemies to get him back. And the galaxy? Yeah—it might just get its narsicles kicked.

Fans of fast-action sci-fi space opera who think Han shot first and Captain Mal definitely should’ve gotten with Inara will love A Space Rules Adventure series.

Fallen

Fight. Survive. Repeat.

The rules of a soldier are simple.

Born into service of the Regime, Commander Sela Tyron is about as subtle as a hammer. To hammers, any problem can look like a nail, but things aren’t always that easy. When Sela is abandoned with her team on a planet full of insurrectionists, things get complicated.

A daredevil rescue by her commanding officer reaps deadly consequences, forcing Sela to choose between the only life she’s ever known and the fate of the man she’s duty-bound to protect.

Her whole life was a lie. And that’s the good news.

Shirking a life of privilege, Erelah Veradin dreamt of building spaceships to explore the stars in the service of the Regime. Yet a monstrous truth about her true heritage is revealed, placing Erelah at the center of a scheming mastermind’s bid for power.

If you love gritty, epic space opera like The Expanse or Firefly, this premier title in the Allies and Enemiesseries launches you on the ride of a lifetime. Voted Dragon Award Finalist for Best Military Science Fiction or Fantasy Novel by Dragon Con and a Kindle Book Award Finalist.
