I’m posting a little earlier than usual because next week I’m focusing on writing Dark Mage Rises. This second book in my Star Mage Saga goes live in July (eeek!) and I want it to be perfect. So I’m clearing Starship JJ Green’s decks for a few days’ hard toil.
In your last ship’s bulletin I mentioned setting up direct sales on Dark Mage Rises and today I thought I’d explain that a bit further. Selling direct means I can avoid giving part of my royalties to bookstores, and that means I can price my books a little cheaper for you. It also means I can offer special items exclusively to my shipmates and last but not least I can avoid the many shenanigans that go on behind the scenes between authors and Amazon. (Seriously, you would be amazed at the ingenuity employed to circumvent the system.)
As an example of what I mean by going direct, take a look at my comedy sci-fi Mission Improbable, which I uploaded as a test. In the future, I’ll be able to do things like offer you complete series at a discount or make other offers exclusive to shipmates.
I’ve also been spending this Sunday playing board games with my son. I love how popular this pastime has become and how many amazing games there are to choose from. Do you like playing table top games, or perhaps Dungeons and Dragons? The shipmates over at our Facebook page are talking about it.
Okay, it’s time I returned to Carina Lin and her continuing adventures in Dark Mage Rises. I hope your Sunday is great.
Your two 99-cent high quality science fiction book bargains this week are Cianien Bloodstone’s (what an amazing name) Forgotten Relics and Nicole Grotepas’ Hands of the Colossus. You might remember seeing the first book in Nicole’s series, Eye of the Colossus in a ship’s bulletin.
An escaped experiment. A growing galactic struggle. And a ship caught in the middle.
Rei’s been changed by her captivity in strange and unknown ways. Now she’s a pirate among the stars, but the mysteries from that time continue to haunt her. And Rei soon learns that some ties can’t be severed, no matter how far you run.
Not when they have the power to draft you.
To stop her enemies, Rei has to hunt down relics of a lost civilization. But will their quest give her the answers she seeks? Or will it just cost her ship dearly?
Fans of Firefly might enjoy this epic, magic-fueled space opera.
Author’s Note: This version was previously published as Forgotten Relics and Shadow of the Storm.

One massive shadow organization. One bad ass heroine.
Holly Drake just wants one thing: to destroy the Shadow Coalition and the evil at the heart of their business. With an endless supply of tips from the secretive man pulling her strings, Holly and her crew swoop in, break up the cash drops and steal the money. If one or two baddies die on accident, no big loss, right? They could do this forever, picking the Coalition apart till not even bones remain.
That is, until someone goes missing. In that moment, everything changes.
To save the victim, Holly and her team will put everything on the line to penetrate the mysterious Shadow Coalition and stab at their enigmatic leadership, the Hands who protect the Heart. Treacherous journeys across the 6-moon system in space-zeppelins, dangerous infiltrations of the Coalition, bartering with thieves and relying on the seedy underbelly of the 6-moons. Anything it takes.
But…is the whole set up a trap. How many snares will Holly and her crew have to spring to the save just one victim?
This is Holly Drake and her crew of thieves. If they have to, they’ll go into the hornet’s nest to get the job done. Will it be their last time?
The Hands of the Colossus features a snarky, strong, bad ass heroine fighting against the odds to save the helpless.
