To say 2020 has been tough is a bit of an understatement. I think we’re all in need of some light entertainment. The starship’s Christmas tree is up, decorations are festooning the bridge, and the chief engineer has found the grog. Now all we need are gifts!
Much as I would love to send each and every shipmate a pressie all of their own, unfortunately, your captain hasn’t achieved the status or funds of Stephen King – yet 🙂 . Instead, I’d like to offer you the opportunity to win a signed paperback of book one in my Carrie Hatchett, Space Adventurer series, Mission Improbable. I have three to send anywhere in the world (see the pic at the bottom of the bulletin).
Carrie Hatchett is somewhat like a human Doctor Who, constantly saving the Earth from alien threats. Her stories should make you smile, chuckle, or even give a big old belly laugh. As a suitable question for the competition, I’d like to know your favourite funny science fiction. It could be a book, a film, or even a play! Post your answer here on our Facebook page, or reply to me at jenny@jjgreenauthor.com.
Psst…the first chapter of The Valiant has gone up on the blog.

Major Rodger Y. Murphy should have died when his helicopter crashed off the coast of Mogadishu in November, 1993. Instead, he woke up in August, 2125, in a binary star system 152 light years from home.
Without any memory of the otherworldly abductors who spirited them away in cold sleep, Murphy and 100 other “Lost Soldiers” have been retrieved and awakened by officers of the Consolidated Terran Republic.
Promising to return to the 55 Tauri B system after completing a distant mission, they leave the twentieth century castaways with a daunting objective: establish a base of operations on the main world, using local allies they have yet to recruit and enemy equipment they have yet to seize.
Worse, the Lost Soldiers left behind with Murphy were the losers and ne’er-do-wells deemed “sub-optimal” for inclusion on the rescue mission. Defiant and determined to live down that judgment, they have given themselves a different, more suitable label: Murphy’s Lawless

Star Mage Quest, book one of Star Mage Saga, may soon be offered in Amazon Prime. What that means, I don’t know exactly! I don’t belong to Prime. But I think Prime members can download the book for nothing. Oh well, it’s flattering to be asked.
The Fearless, book two in Star Legend, is coming on a storm. I’m introducing some more characters from British mythology. You’ll probably be able to guess who they are once you’ve read The Valiant, but I won’t give any spoilers.
Enjoy your books, stay sane, safe and happy!
