Sorry the ship’s bulletin is one day late. You might be aware that space colonisation series, Building New Canaan book four, Athens, is coming out soon. I was busy meeting my deadline to finish the book and send it off to Michael Cooper for him to work his magic.

It’s always sad to come to the end of a series. I’ve especially loved writing about Erin and her family during the colonisation of New Canaan. I had a lot of fun exploring their diverse personalities, from grouchy, over-protective Martin, through sweet, sensitive Isa, to smart, practical Erin. They’ve all passed through their personal journeys over the four books and I’ve brought them to the ends of their arcs in Athens. Though that isn’t to say they won’t be back. 😉

Next on my list is Wildfire and Steel, which is the third book in my space fantasy Star Mage Saga series. If you’ve been waiting for this for a while, thank you for your patience. You don’t have much longer to wait to find out what happens to Carina and her siblings.

The question from the shipmates’ survey I’m answering today is: How did you manage to get the same birthday as me? My oldest sister and my great grandfather also were born on Feb 26th. The answer is, I don’t know! You’ll have to ask my mother.

Your two 99-cent wonders this week are Simon Haynes’ very funny book, A Robot Named Clunk, and James David Victor’s pirates in space story (who doesn’t love pirates in space?), Parallax.

And there’s more! Check below to see a great chance to win an ereader and 60 science fiction books.

Clunk, a clapped-out robot, is convinced he’s about to be junked.

Instead, his penny-pinching boss is sending him off to be refurbished.

Being old and wise, Clunk knows there’s a catch…

…but at first it doesn’t seem too bad.

He just has to help a freelancer pick up some cargo.

Unfortunately, Hal Spacejock – the freelancer – is obstinate, over-confident, and woefully under-skilled, and he’s never going to let a lowly robot fly his precious ship.

Is there any chance this pair of misfits can lift off, collect the cargo and deliver it in one piece?

Or will they fly straight into the nearest star, still bickering and fighting over the controls?

“Brilliantly quirky, wildly absurd”
