Ahoy again! How is your spring going? Or, if you’re in the southern hemisphere, your autumn? Here in Taipei a few weeks ago our annual visitors arrived and they’ve taken up residence in the overhangs in the streets.
Can you guess what I’m talking about? Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see a photo I took today.
You’re back? What did you think? I feel privileged to see the cute creatures at such close range. I could stand and watch them for hours. And this year it will be for the last time in a long time. Sob.
We’re only six weeks away from returning to the UK and I’ve been busy squeezing in preparations while doing the much more interesting task of writing books.
Now that I have the title of Space Colony One, Part 2, Interstellar Mission, I’ve begun to look around for an artist to create a space colonisation book cover. If you’ve seen a book cover you love, please let me know on our Facebook page here or write to me at jenny@jjgreenauthor.com. I’d love some inspiration.
I’m including a couple of real celebrity authors’ work as your bargain book suggestions this week. If you haven’t already read any of Lindsay Buroker’s or Blaze Ward’s novels yet, I think you’ll love their writing. Both Shockwave and Auberon are 99 cents.
Shockwave
What if being a hero was encoded in your genes?
And nobody told you?
Casmir Dabrowski would laugh if someone asked him that. After all, he had to build a robot to protect himself from bullies when he was in school.
Fortunately, life is a little better these days. He’s an accomplished robotics engineer, a respected professor, and he almost never gets picked on in the lunchroom. But he’s positive heroics are for other people.
Until robot assassins stride onto campus and try to kill him.
Forced to flee the work he loves and the only home he’s ever known, Casmir catches the first ship into space, where he hopes to buy time to figure out who wants him dead and why. If he can’t, he’ll never be able to return home.
But he soon finds himself entangled with bounty hunters, mercenaries, and pirates, including the most feared criminal in the Star Kingdom: Captain Tenebris Rache.
Rache could snap his spine with one cybernetically enhanced finger, but he may be the only person with the answer Casmir desperately needs.
What in his genes is worth killing for?

Auberon
Jessica Keller faces court martial for disobeying a direct order.
Her actions also prevented a massacre during the latest starship battle between the Republic of Aquitaine Navy (RAN) and the Fribourg Empire.
What does this maverick commander have to do to impress the RAN high command? To get the Fribourg Empire to declare her a threat? And at what cost to herself?
Auberon—the first novel in The Chronicles of Jessica Keller—combines adventuring to distant stars with seat-of-the-pants excitement.
A fascinating expansion to the Alexandria Station universe.
