Welcome to your first ship’s bulletin from a new location! We’re somewhere in geostationary orbit above Cambridge, U.K.

The flight over went quite smoothly, though the ship’s cat was quite traumatised. He spent the first 48 hours after arrival hiding out in an inaccessible part of our starship. He was finally tempted out of his hiding place by the rattle of ship’s biscuit in a bowl and is getting used to the new position in orbit.

What an interesting new place we find ourselves in. All kinds of strange news has been broadcast from the city below. Just the other day, we heard this.

But, regardless of location, work continues. I’m currently polishing Interstellar Mission, ready for sending off to my lovely editor in about two weeks. I’m hoping to get this latest edition in the story of my space colonisation series, Space Colony One out to Patreon supporters in the final week in July, then the book will be released on Amazon in Kindle Unlimited one week later.

I received a couple of enquiries from my ARC team, the Review Crew, checking that they’ll receive their usual free copy before the book goes live on Amazon. The answer is, yes, of course!

If you would like to join the Crew, it isn’t too late. Write to me at jenny@jjgreenauthor.com and include a link to a review you’ve written on one of my books (a review on one of the free books is fine).

While the weeks count down to part two of Space Colony One, you might be interested in these two cool military science fiction novels for 99 cents or 99p: Asrian Skies by Anne Wheeler and After the Galaxy by Scott Bartlett.

Asrian Skies by Anne Wheeler

Avery Rendon is weeks away from realizing her dream as a Commonwealth fighter pilot when planetary politics intervene. Reluctantly, she returns to her home planet of Asria, still hoping to break free of her controlling family and their faith. Not much has changed on Asria though, and after her almost-fiancé walks out on her, she’s not sure life can get much worse.

She’s wrong. When the Haederan Empire invades Asria, intent on rebuilding their interstellar domain, Avery becomes a target. She also becomes something else—a Commonwealth intelligence operative. It’s not long before she stumbles upon information that could change the course of the war, and suddenly she’s on the run, forced to confront her fear of death and her lingering doubts about her faith’s teachings.

Swept up in something more dangerous than politics or flying, Avery begins to wonder if her destiny lies somewhere closer to home. If those old beliefs are worth clinging to. And if she’ll live to see the end of it all.

The galaxy’s not big enough

Commander Joe Pikeman has his share of demons. But after a long deployment, he just wants to enjoy some home leave with his daughter.

The galaxy has other plans.

His last assignment takes him to Earth, humanity’s deserted homeworld. There, he finds Earth’s last settlement littered with the bodies of the people who lived there.

As he hunts down those responsible, he runs head-first into some galaxy-shaking questions.

Why did humanity really abandon the galaxy for a computer simulation?

Who would want to start killing off the last real humans left?

There’s one thing Joe knows for sure. If they’re going after his neighbors…his family…his daughter…

They’ll need to go through him first.
