Space Colony One Books 1 - 3 Glossary

Cryo: Cryonic suspension, used to preserve the scientists who worked on the Nova Fortuna Project and then travelled to the new planet.
First Generation: The colonists who left Earth and embarked on the Nova Fortuna at the beginning of her journey.
First Night Attack: An attack by predatory life forms on the colonists’ camp on their first night on the planet, as told in the Space Colony One prequel, Night of Flames..
Fila: A shortened name for the many-tentacled life form Fila cherryensia.
Flitter: Domestic transportation vehicles brought along on the Nova Fortuna, powered by anti-gravity.
Gens: A shortened name for generational colonists, the descendents of the the Nova Fortuna‘s original passengers.
Global Government: The political group that governed Earth at the time of the departure of the Nova Fortuna.
Guardians: A small group that arrived from Earth aboard the faster-than-light starship, Mistral, a short while after the arrival of the colony ship.
Interface: Any screen that connects to a computer.
Leader: The person selected (usually democratically) to lead the colony.
Mistral: The Guardians’ starship.
Nova/Nova Fortuna: The original, generational colony ship. Most Gens refer to her as the Nova.
Roadmaker: A self-driving machine that transforms most soils and substrate to driveable roads, brought along on the Nova Fortuna.
Sanobots: Small automated devices that clean starships.
Scythians: Hostile aliens that arrive from space.
The Clock: An electronic clock that dominates Main Park on the Nova Fortuna and runs backwards, counting down to the predicted arrival date of the Nova Fortuna.
The Manual: A schedule and set of guidelines written by the original founders of the Nova Fortuna Project, intended to shape the first years of the new colony.
Woken: The Nova Fortuna Project scientists who elected to join the colony expedition and have been revived from cryonic suspension.
