It’s lucky our starship is in orbit, high above the hurricane currently assaulting the U.K. Serious winds down there! (Admittedly, British weather is tame compared to many places in the world -such as Canada, the U.S. and Australia, from where many shipmates hail.)
One such shipmate wrote last week to say their ship’s bulletin always ended up in their spam folder, no matter what they did. Unfortunately, with so much actual spam travelling across cyberspace these days, it’s almost impossible to avoid the problem. Your captain has been doing a little travelling of her own lately, though not far from home. Along with the chief engineer and the cabin boy, she visited Drayton Fen RSPB Nature Reserve last weekend. What an amazing place it is, full of wildlife and rare birds. You can see a pic at the bottom of the bulletin.

At the moment, the brand new J.J. Green series is set to launch at the end of October. Strictly speaking, it’s a space fantasy in the vein of Dune and Star Wars, but in my opinion it’s also very straight sci-fi. This strange happenings are also strange to the main characters, who include a hero and a heroine, both Marines in the Britannic Alliance, and two darker characters: the leader of the Antarctic Republic and the head of SIS (the Secret Intelligence Service).
Audio recordings of books one, two, and three of Shadows of the Void have been uploaded to the relevant sites and are now awaiting publication.
