Sorry the ship’s bulletin is a day late. I’d arranged with another author to share his books, but he hadn’t dropped the price on them. Instead, I’m featuring the first two space colonisation, epic adventure Space Colony One novels, which continue the story from the free starter book, Night of Flames.

One of the pleasures of moving to our long term orbit has been finally unpacking my stock of shipmates’ book prizes we shipped from Taiwan. You can see a pic of them in their new home at the bottom of the bulletin. Yes, that’s one of the ship’s cat’s favourite places to sleep. (We put in a cat flap today so he can go on space walks too!)

As the holiday season approaches, I’m making plans for what will happen aboard ship. As well as your Carrie Hatchett Christmas stories collection gift, I’ll also be organising some shipmates’ competitions, with personally dedicated, autographed paperbacks as prizes. I’ve been doing this so long, many of the book covers are no longer in print, which makes them extra special.

So, in the general excitement, remember to open your ship’s bulletins if you don’t want to miss out.

I hope your holiday preparations are going well (assuming you’ve started). It’s going to be a tough time if, like me, you aren’t able to see many of your family members, but we can try our best to enjoy it.

Facing the enemy at the gates

All her life Cariad had one dream: to participate in humanity’s colonization of deep space. After topping her field as a geneticist, and then spending 184 years in cryonic suspension, she’s achieved her goal.

But the new planet is not the paradise the scientists predicted. Alien predators come out at night, ready to feast on the new arrivals. What’s more, saboteurs have stowed away aboard the ship and are determined to destroy the new colony.

To defeat the settlers’ enemies, Cariad must enlist the help of the disgruntled Gens, last in the line of generational colonists who lived and died on the long journey to the stars, and who hate the Woken scientists.

Infighting and strife plague Cariad’s efforts. If the colony’s factions don’t pull together, the flame of hope for humanity will be snuffed out.

Humanity’s first deep space colony.

Humanity’s last hope.

Treachery and sabotage have dogged the early days of the Nova Fortuna colonization project, and worse problems lie in wait.

The data the colonists received about their planet was wrong. No one knows what predatory life forms threaten the colonists. Ethan makes it his job to find out. At the same time, geneticist Cariad tries to root out any remaining saboteurs while also working to rebuild the colonists’ gene pool.

If Cariad and Ethan must secure the colony’s safety. If they don’t the last hope for humanity will be gone.

Publishing News

Several shipmates have been asking when Star Legend book one, The Valiant, will be coming out on Amazon. The answer is just before Christmas, and I’ll be dropping the price for the shipmates’ discount in the week after Christmas. The reason for the delay is I’m recording the audio book and hope to release them both at the same time, though at Audible’s glacial processing pace that may be unlikely.

If you absolutely can’t wait, you can either sign up for a patron’s copy at Patreon, or pick up the paperback, which is available now.

A kind shipmate let me know about a problem with the audio book of Shadows of the Void book one, Generation, at Kobo. Apparently, the files for book two, Stranded, are what appear when you download the book. If this has happened to you, the problem should be fixed now and you can download another copy of this free audio book.

Enjoy your books, stay sane, safe and happy!
