Hello from Cambridge
So sorry the ship’s bulletin is a day late. Perhaps I have an acceptable excuse: I was completing the final polish of Final Onslaught, and my little fingers are rather sore. But not so sore that I can’t write the bulletin! More on the book in Publishing News below.
I have two confessions to make this week. Last weekend I drove a car for the first time in eight years and I was a nervous wreck, at first. We actually don’t have a car yet. Where we live in Cambridge parking is scarce and we don’t really need our own vehicle, but I wanted to attend a friend’s birthday party in another town so we hired one.
The strange thing was, after a few minutes’ driving it was as if all those years had melted away. My ‘inner driver’ took over and I found I hadn’t forgotten anything. It was a slightly disturbing experience. I’m sure there must be some memory science to explain the phenomenon.
My second confession is, we lost the ship’s cat. After searching high and low and calling him (which was stupid because he never answers), we finally found him. Have a look at the picture at the bottom of the bulletin. Can you see him?

They thought the Sturm were dead. They were wrong.
Centuries after their defeat, the enemy has returned with an overwhelming attack on the fringes of human space. On the brink of annihilation, humankind’s only hope is a few brave souls who survived the initial onslaught: Commander Lucinda Hardy, thrust into uncertain command of the Royal Armadalen Navy’s only surviving warship; Booker3, a soldier of Earth, sentenced to die for treason, whose time on Death Row is cut short by the invasion; Alessia, a young royal of the Montanblanc Corporation, forced to flee when her home planet is overrun and her entire family executed; Sephina L’trel, the leader of an outlaw band who must call on all of their criminal skills to resist the invasion.
And, finally, retired Admiral Frazer McLennan, the infamous hero of the first war with the Sturm hundreds of years ago, who hopes to rout his old foes once and for all – or die trying.
These five flawed, reluctant heroes must band together to prevail against a relentless enemy and near-impossible odds. For if they fail, the future itself is doomed.

Bring out the mechs and fire up the chainsword. Ready. Fight!
Mech Pilot Jessica Kramer fights to survive in the armored arenas of Junctionworld, like her father and brother before her. She’s good, but not as good. If she ever hopes to be better, she’ll need to stop getting in her own way.
When she discovers the circumstances behind her famous brother’s death were more than just a result of the games, her path turns to vengeance. The deeper she digs, the harder the truth becomes, and the more sinister the plot to eliminate her as well.
Renegade cyborgs, inter-dimensional menaces, and the mysterious forces that destroyed her brother are closing in from every direction. Jessica needs to stay one step ahead or she’ll have one foot in the grave. And if she ever hopes to uncover the conspiracy against her family, she’ll have to overcome her personal demons first.

Final Onslaught is so close to being finished I can hear the starship engines. It’s later than I hoped unfortunately. It turns out that you can’t attend a writers’ conference and get some writing done at the same time. Still, I’m delighted with how the book has turned out. There’s deadly danger, action, shocking surprises and more than a few tears. It’s a fitting conclusion to the Space Colony One trilogy.
If you would like a pre-release copy, there’s still time to sign up to Patreon here. If you shop for books online somewhere other than Amazon, becoming a Patreon supporter is how you can buy my books. Otherwise, I’ll announce the book’s appearance at Amazon just after Christmas.
I also have another chapter in the audio book of Shadows of the Void for you. Download it free here. If you’d like the earlier chapters too you can find them at my J.J. Green Author website under Audio Files.
Next stop on my writing journey is the fourth Carrie Hatchett Christmas story. Buckle your seatbelt and watch out for moose because we’re going to snowy Canada for the holiday season.
Enjoy your books!
