In an earlier bulletin I told you that the cabin boy was resigning his position to go to Cardiff University. This week we’ve been contemplating the changes aboard the starship since his departure.

He was actually the last of three cabin boys who have served aboard ship over the last thirty-three years. Now just your captain and the chief engineer are left (plus all the shipmates, of course). We’ve found we have more flexibility in our schedules including time for autumnal walks – you can see a pic at the bottom – and if we go out to eat we don’t have to find a restaurant that has pizza or burgers on the menu.

But things are too quiet, the ship’s cat is a little depressed, and I have to mow the lawn myself. Thankfully, winter is nearly upon us and the grass only needs one more cut before I’m finished for the year.

On the plus side, there’s more time for recording audiobooks. The current project is Dark Mage Rises, book two of the Star Mage Saga. If you haven’t met the heroine of the series, star mage Carina Lin, you can download the free prequel, Daughter of Discord.

In celebration of returning to this series book one, Star Mage Quest, is discounted to 99c/99p for a short time.

Star Mage Quest, Star Mage Saga book 1

Space opera meets old magic

Carina Lin grew up alone and friendless, a slum brat afraid of revealing her mage power. Her life changed when she was picked up by a merc band and taught how to kill.

The band’s next mission is a doozy: rescue a kid taken hostage by one of the most powerful clans in the galactic sector.

When Carina takes part she finds she faces an impossible decision. To save the kid she must Cast, but if her secret gets out she faces slavery and torture.

She rolls the dice, opening possibilities she’d never dreamed of, but only if she survives the fall out.

The Defiant, Star Legend book six

Let’s not forget last week’s competition! Many shipmates entered with their favourite character from Arthurian legend. The winner, picked from a hat, is Matthew Noall.

Commiserations if you didn’t win but there will be another competition soon.

Enjoy your star mage books!
