Daughter of Discord

I hope you’re having a great break and enjoying the long holiday weekend. I had a lovely time visiting a friend for Christmas dinner yesterday. Organising all the traditional foods is sometimes a little challenging here in Taiwan, but together we usually manage.

I love Christmas because it’s the season of giving, and I love to give gifts. This year, I added you to my Christmas list! I wrote a story about Carl Lingiari, one of the main characters in Shadows of the Void. If you’ve read the series and wondered what makes Carl such a great space pilot, this story explains it, and tells a little about Carl’s background and parents. Go here to download your free story.

Talking of giving things away has reminded me about my reader competitions, which are still running. Thanks to everyone who has emailed me or posted their entry. Your Christmas jokes have made me chuckle, and you’ve kept them clean so far, which I appreciate! I’m closing the competitions in 48 hours and I’ll announce the winners next week.

You can enter on Facebook page or reply to this email.

More thanks to everyone who enquired about joining my review team for my forthcoming Star Mage Saga. Remember that you need to send me a link to a review you’ve written on one of my books if you would like to join the team.

I’d also like to thank everyone who downloaded a copy of Carrie’s Calamity. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it, especially when I included all the ideas for cold remedies that shipmates suggested.

A few more suggestions for voracious readers this week are K. Gorman’s three books in the Eurynome Code series. Book 1 is free, and books 2 and 3 are below.

Renegades

The Shadows have taken over half of the system, and Karin is the only one who can fight back.

Genetically engineered from birth, Karin Makos’s powers have made her the Alliance’s most wanted person. With her sister still missing, and only a cryptic notebook left behind for clues, the mystery of her past is going to take a lot more time and resources than they have to unravel it.

And there’s a bigger problem looming. Keeping their promise to heal Ethan’s stepfather and the rest of the people on the Ozark puts them right past Caishen station and its Alliance allies—and there might be another force on their tail.

After the crew split apart on a wild chase that puts Karin in the hot seat, it’ll take all of their strength and ingenuity to bring them back together. With enemies gathering in the wings, a desperate, heavy-handed station commander hard on their tail, and the Shadows an ever-present threat, they must race against the odds and scramble to fight their way out.

Blood Ties

Together again, and ready to bring the system to its knees.

Karin Makos has spent the last two months running from one thing or another—but all that’s about to change. Her sister’s back, and Nomiki’s ready to grab their problems by the horns, throw them on their backs, and rip into them with her modified carbon steel blades.

With the backing of the Fallon Empire and a promising new lead, the two are determined to reach down into the mystery of their past and pull out its secrets, once and for all.

But they aren’t the only ones on the move. And looking may uncover more than even they could have bargained for.

What’s Coming Up?

I’m very excited to be planning Daughter of Discord, book 1 in my Star Mage Saga at the moment. I’ll be beginning the opening chapters this week and hope to post a snippet on my blog on Saturday. The top image on this ship’s bulletin is a slice from the cover. When the cover is finished, I’ll be putting the book up for preorder.

2018 is going to be jam-packed with writing projects. I only hope I can keep up the pace.

For now, I’m concentrating on having fun through the rest of the holiday season. See you in 2018.

Happy reading!
