TALMAN PRIME

We’re battening down the hatches on the starship. As the perfect exit to Halloween, Storm Ciaran is on his way to the UK, bringing giant waves, high winds and driving rain.

Here’s hoping no one gets hurt!

On the plus side, it’s perfect writing weather.

Work on my next series, a Star Legend spinoff called Interstellar Fleet, is progressing nicely. Book one is Talman Prime, featuring two Star Legend characters.

If you’ve read The Dauntless and The Defiant, you’ll remember two minor-ish characters called Carys and Setia Zees. Talman Prime is told from Setia’s point of view.

Setia Zees fled Earth to escape the clutches of a tyrannical master, becoming one of humanity’s first deep space colonists as a side-effect.

Her destination, Talman Prime, should be a pristine planet, never inhabited by intelligent life. That’s how it looks at first, but then Setia stumbles across what seem to be the remains of an ancient civilization.

The other colonists don’t agree. They think she’s crazy.

Can she convince them? Does it really matter?

When she discovers the aliens may still exist, it does.

SHIP’S LOG

I took number two cabin boy to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in London’s West End as a birthday treat. What an amazing play – well, technically two plays. If you get a chance to see it, I highly recommend it.

I’ve also started thinking about this year’s Carrie Hatchett Christmas story. I’ve set the story in many countries over the years, and I’m looking for suggestions for a new country where Carrie can save the world from yet another festive alien invasion.
