If you downloaded a copy of The Resolute last week, thank you so much! The launch of book four of Star Legend, the story of Taylan Ellis, Major Wright, and a certain figure from British mythology was a big success.

Congratulations to the winner of the shipmates’ competition to win a signed paperback copy, Heidi Millward, who wrote to tell me about her love of tribbles. As always, the winner was picked from a hat. Well done, Heidi.

It’s always nice to take a little breather after a book launch. I have to confess I’m sitting here sipping a small port (the alcoholic kind) as I write this week’s bulletin.

But it hasn’t been all lazing around. The chief engineer and I took a long hike to a place called Fleam Dike. It turned out to be farther away than we expected, a whole ten miles there and back, in fact. it was worth it, however. Check out the pic at the bottom of the bulletin.

With autumn in the air, it’s time to start planning publishing in the festive season, which aboard the starship means a new Carrie Hatchett Christmas story as a gift to all shipmates. In case you haven’t been introduced to Carrie, I’ve included Mission Improbable, book one in her adventures, as a free featured book.

Mission Improbable, Carrie Hatchett, Space Adventurer Book 1

If you like Dr. Who, you’ll love Mission Improbable.

Carrie Hatchett’s been a dog walker, ice cream seller and birthdaygram girl—the clean kind. All she wants is a proper job. But Transgalactic Intercultural Community Crisis Liaison Officer isn’t what she had in mind. And neither is saving the galaxy.

Carrie’s a low-achieving daydreamer. After providing a good home for her butt-ugly dog and crazy cat, her biggest challenge in life is to avoid being fired, again.

But a strange green mist sucks her beneath her kitchen sink, and an unusual clerical error leads to an offer she foolishly doesn’t refuse.

In settling a conflict between the mechanical placktoids and the mysterious oootoon, Carrie reveals a threat to the entire galactic empire.

Now that the recording of the audiobook of The Resolute has been completed and we’re just waiting for acceptance from ACX, it’s time to return to the Big Project, the recording of the entire Shadows of the Void series.

Oddly, the earlier and later books of this 10-book series are finished, and I only have to record books three to six. This involves an Aussie accent (not too much of a problem) and a southern US accent (errr…)

You might be interested to know one of the reasons I gave the character Sayen Lee a Southern accent was because my friend and editor at the time was from Georgia, US. Little did I know a few years later I’d be trying to sound like her.

Enjoy your books, stay sane, safe, and happy!
