Just when you think the world couldn’t get any more insane, everything gets turned up a notch and you begin to wonder what the future holds. Never mind, we have the wonderful world of fiction to escape into, riight?

On a more positive note, I’d like to give a warm welcome and say a big thank you to new patron, Richard L. Adams. Along with the rest of the Tier 2 patrons, Richard will receive book one in my new series around the end of this month. I think I’m naming the series Star Legend. You can meet the main characters in Publishing News below.

You can also see the ship’s cat, who had a big fit of the zoomies the other day. I managed to capture a series of photos while he was between zooms. You know the zoomies, where your dog or cat suddenly goes crazy and starts racing around the house at top speed? No, I don’t know why they do it either, but they seem to have a lot of fun.

NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR – WINNER OF THE 2016 LOCUS AWARD – NOMINATED FOR THE HUGO, NEBULA AND ARTHUR C. CLARKE AWARDS.

When Captain Kel Cheris of the hexarchate is disgraced for her unconventional tactics, Kel Command gives her a chance to redeem herself by retaking the Fortress of Scattered Needles from the heretics. Cheris’s career isn’t the only thing at stake: if the fortress falls, the hexarchate itself might be next.

Cheris’s best hope is to ally with the undead tactician Shuos Jedao. The good news is that Jedao has never lost a battle, and he may be the only one who can figure out how to successfully besiege the fortress. The bad news is that Jedao went mad in his first life and massacred two armies, one of them his own.

As the siege wears on, Cheris must decide how far she can trust Jedao – because she might be his next victim.

Publishing News

Half of the fun of being an indie writer is working with talented artists. I was delighted to snag Warren Designs to create the covers for my new series, Star Legend (almost certainly calling it that). The same artist made the later covers for my Star Mage Saga series. I should be able to show you the new covers in a couple of weeks, and I’d love to hear your opinion.

So, who is in Star Legend?

Meet Major T.J. Wright (do not ask him what T or J stand for). Major Wright is a Royal Marine, and the military is in his blood. Which is why, when he’s faced with Taylan Ellis, he’s confounded. How did this woman in her thirties, a refugee from the West Britannic Isles, become such a good fighter?

Also meet Lorcan Ua Talman, owner of the Antarctic Project, an organisation determined to strip Earth of its remaining meagre resources to build gigantic colony ships. Along with sultry, cryptic Dwyr Kala Orr, leader of the Earth Awareness Crusade, he plans to defy the efforts of Major Wright and the rest of the Britannic Alliance to shut down his operations.

And let’s not forget the head of the BA’s Secret Intelligence Service, Hans Jonte, who has an agenda all of his own.

The Britannic Isles have fallen, and all hope seems lost, when a mysterious distress signal is received. Who has sent it, and how will this new person figure in the clash of factions fighting over Earth’s future?

Find out more soon.
