How are you doing with your new year’s resolutions? I’m not a big resolution maker, but I am trying to work smarter this year and devote more time to leisure activities I love like hiking and reading. I’d arrived at the state where any time I wasn’t writing, I thought I should be. But that isn’t the best way to write good books and it can lead to me neglecting important aspects of my life, like my family and relaxation time. So I’ve turned over a new leaf.
I am really enjoying a great non-fiction book called Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs by Lisa Randall. What are you reading right now? I’d love to know and what you like about the book. You can tell me by posting on our Facebook page or writing to me at jenny@jjgreenauthor.com
Meanwhile, preparations for our return to the UK continue. I’ve been looking up how we’re going to ship the ship’s cat, and if that isn’t weird phrase I don’t know what is. This will be our last winter in Taiwan and I’m not looking forward to British winters from here on in. Of course, they’re balmy compared to the temperatures currently ravaging many US states. If you’re enduring terrible conditions, either freezing or roasting in Australia, stay safe!
Any weather is good weather for reading. My suggestions for 99-cent books this week are L.J. Cohen’s award-winning science fiction tale, Derelict, and S. Usher Evans’ swashbuckling sci fi, Double Life.
Derelict
Read the award-winning story that started the Halcyone Space series.
When Rosalen Maldonado tinkers with the derelict freighter, she’s just hoping to prove she deserves a scholarship to University. She certainly doesn’t count on waking the ship’s damaged AI or having three stowaways, Micah Rotherwood and brothers Jem and Barre Durbin, along for the ride. They all have their private reasons for hiding aboard and lives they are seeking to escape, but if the accidental crew can’t work together and learn to trust each other, they’ll die together, victims of a computer that doesn’t realize the war ended decades before any of them were even born.
