pace Colony One: Night of Flames

So sorry the starship JJ Green bulletin is a couple of days late this week. Several things have delayed me, including the final book in the Carrie Hatchett, Space Adventurer series. The lovely Lacey is editing it right now and the cover designer is very nearly finished, so with fingers and everything else crossed it should be out next week.

As a special Christmas treat, as well as offering the book at 99 cents, I’m going to create a limited edition that includes the bonus Christmas story, A Very Carrie Christmas. Carrie and Dave go to Lapland and have an adventure with the local inhabitants, called the Sami. (I was actually inspired by the TV series Fortitude, but this is a very different style of story!)

Many thanks if you filled in the shipmates’ survey last week. If you missed out, the form is still open here. Thanks for all your kind words and for your feedback. A few things I learned:

  • Some shipmates like receiving a bulletin every week but some would prefer them less often. If you’d like to hear from me just once a month please reply sending me your email address so I can move you to a special group.
  • You want me to publish more books! Rest assured, next year I’m writing two new series and spending less time submitting stories to anthologies. At the bottom of this bulletin are two prequel novella links (you don’t need to order – I’ll include links to free downloads when they go live).
  • Some of you like the Kindle Unlimited books, and some can’t or don’t like to buy from Amazon. They say you can’t please everyone but I aim to try! All my series will eventually be available at most online bookstores. For example, Shadows of the Void is leaving KU next year and Carrie Hatchett’s stories have already left and are for sale at Kobo, Nook, iBooks etc.
  • You want to learn more about me. I’m going to include a little more personal stuff in various ways.
  • Most of you love the book suggestions and offers. I try not to go overboard with these and I’m glad you like them. There are so many great books out there and many shipmates read more than three a week, so I’m happy to keep you supplied. See below for the latest.

The Impossible Quest of Hailing a Taxi on Christmas Eve

Scrooge Is Looking For A Taxi

Dickens meets I, Robot in this sci-fi retelling of a classic story.

In this modern retelling of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” Scrooge is looking for a taxi to get home on Christmas Eve. But he will get the ride of his life, as he is walked through his past, his present and his future to end up a changed man.

Set in modern day Athens, this science-fiction version of the classic ghost story is guaranteed to bring shivers down your spine and a smile to your face.

“It isn’t too late for all us Scrooges, and this story did make me see more than the classic.”

“An entertaining, uplifting novella perfect to read during Christmastime.”

“This is a rollicking, hiccup producing, laugh out loud morality play that would make Dickens sit up and take notice. A lot of fun!”

What’s Coming Up?

Amazing new covers are what’s coming up aboard starship JJ Green in the next couple of weeks. Here’s the first, Space Colony One: Night of Flames.

I also have a new cover on the way for the second book in my Star Mage Saga, Daughter of Discord, but more on that next time.

What else is coming up? Christmas! We’re doing our usual thing of inviting a couple of Taiwanese friends and their families. Christmas isn’t heavily celebrated here in Taiwan, definitely not as much as Chinese New Year, but our friends certainly like coming over and joining in. Especially one of their sons, who likes gravy so much that he licks it off the plate!

I hope your preparations for the holidays are going well. Next week, the competitions begin!

Happy reading!
