At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, I’d like to say that some things I used to love to eat are no longer available or – as I found out this week – hard to come by.
Now that The Defiant is out and the Star Legend series is complete, barring a couple of stories, on Friday the starship officers took a whole day off ! We went to Tollesbury Salt Marshes in Essex and stopped at a fish and chip shop on Mersea Island for lunch. (That’s a clue for you.)
We discovered some things on sale that your captain’s brother had assured her no one sold anymore. What were they? Scroll to the bottom of the bulletin and see if you recognise them, or take a guess. If you think you can answer the question what’s this? post in the comments. Maybe you can tell us what weird food you like.
I’ll tell you the answer next week. If you can’t wait, check our Facebook page.
I don’t have a book of my own for you this week, but Shattered Empire, Doug Pruden’s very good series starter is free for a short time.
Undisturbed for aeons, something has been awakened…
When the UEF Scimitar is dispatched to retrieve an archaeologist from an isolated and abandoned Terran colony, young officer Hayden Kaine thinks it is a routine mission. But when a mysterious accident traps the ship in the quarantined star system, survival soon becomes everyone’s only concern.

Meanwhile, Star Mage Saga book eight, Galactic Rift, is going very well. Only one more book after this to conclude the story of Carina Lin and her mage family. Will they reach Earth? What will they find there? And what adventures will they have along the way?
Enjoy your books!
