This is going to be a shortish bulletin because, frankly, your captain is knackered. The chief engineer and I went for a 10K hike around the chalkland habitat this morning and, phew, ten kilometres is a long way! But it was worth it. Check out the pic of the bee at the bottom of the bulletin for evidence.

What starship habitat would you include aboard your ship? Let the other shipmates know on our Facebook page or write to me at jenny@jjgreenauthor.com

This week’s featured books are two series starters. You might have downloaded your free shipmates’ copy of the Shadows of the Void prequel, Starbound, and the Carrie Hatchett, Space Adventurer story, Carrie Hatchett’s Christmas. Generation and Mission Improbable are the first full books in each series.

Kickass sci-fi heroine versus deadly aliens

Growing up as a Martian on Earth has left Jas Harrington solitary, quick-tempered, and with zero tolerance for fools. All plus points when working as a chief security officer aboard prospecting starships.

Jas’ latest berth is aboard the Galathea, which trawls the reaches of the galaxy seeking precious minerals and rare resources. She thinks it’s a routine trip. She’s wrong.

When the captain disciplines Jas for insubordination, she has only two allies: a timid navigator and the second pilot, who has the hots for her. Not that Jas notices.

All hell breaks loose, and Jas’ skills are put to the ultimate test. Can she enlist the help of the only two friends she has? She’s in a race against time to prevent the aliens from achieving their goal: Generation.

If you like Dr. Who, you’ll love Mission Improbable.

Carrie Hatchett’s been a dog walker, ice cream seller and birthdaygram girl—the clean kind. All she wants is a proper job. But Transgalactic Intercultural Community Crisis Liaison Officer isn’t what she had in mind. And neither is saving the galaxy.

Carrie’s a low-achieving daydreamer. After providing a good home for her butt-ugly dog and crazy cat, her biggest challenge in life is to avoid being fired, again.

But a strange green mist sucks her beneath her kitchen sink, and an unusual clerical error leads to an offer she foolishly doesn’t refuse.

In settling a conflict between the mechanical placktoids and the mysterious oootoon, Carrie reveals a threat to the entire galactic empire.

Publishing News

The publishing news this week comes from the bookstores. The Fearless has been picked for a Kindle Deal at Amazon.au and is currently discounted at that store, you lucky Aussies! And The Galathea Chronicles has been picked for a sale at Barnes and Noble that will run from late August to mid-September. It looks like August is sale time!

It’s also time for new book covers. I’m about to commission the final two covers for the Star Legend series, The Dauntless and The Defiant. The artist has done a sterling job on the rest of the covers so stand by to be amazed by these final two.

I also decided to recover the first three Space Colony One books, The Concordia DeceptionThe Fila Epiphany, and The Scythian Crisis, so they signal their genre better. Your next few bulletins should have some gorgeous covers to ogle.

Looking forward to hearing about your fave starship habitat. Enjoy your books, stay sane, safe, and happy!
