Brrr! The nights are drawing in here aboard the starship and temperatures are dropping. The ship’s cat is fine, however. He has a heating pad to keep him warm, as you can see at the bottom of the bulletin. It’s his new favourite place to be.
As well as writing Fatal Star, your captain has been following Mars mission reports this week. Plans are hotting up to land a human crew on the planet this decade. But I have to confess I don’t think we’ll ever colonise the Red Planet.
Why? Because the harshest conditions on Earth are a breeze compared to the best we can expect on Mars, where low gravity, radiation, lack of oxygen or easily accessible water make long-term survival next to impossible.
What do you think? Will we colonise Mars? Let the shipmates know on our Facebook page or write to me at jenny@jjgreenauthor.com
This week’s featured book is Starfighter Down, the exciting start to a new series by Matt Herron, reduced for a limited time.

Carina Lin has defeated dark mages, hostile aliens, and evil smugglers to bring her family halfway across the galaxy in her search for Earth.
But more obstacles stand in her way.
A strange star system awaits them en route, which threatens to trap them within its confines forever.
Carina must face the challenges of weird space if she’s ever to find a safe haven for the people she loves.
Do you like the blurb for Fatal Star? I’ve had a lot of fun getting back to Carina Lin, her mage family, and the merc band, the Black Dogs.
Carina is such a cool character. After all she’s endured, she keeps getting back on her feet to carry on fighting.
I’m looking forward to re-introducing you to her around Christmas or a few weeks earlier if you’re a patron. Series page here.
