Daughter of Discord

Greetings from sunny Taiwan! Spring has arrived on the beautiful isle (Taiwan’s former name was Formosa – Portuguese for beautiful isle). It’s the best time of year here and I’m looking forward to seeing the spring blooms in trees and cascading from apartment balconies.

Living in Taiwan inspires my writing in sometimes unexpected ways. I’m currently writing about a visit to Athens, one of the planets in M.D. Cooper’s universe and I suddenly realised I was writing about the green mountains and hot springs of Taipei! Except Athens is a little more of a hedonistic paradise.

I hope the weather is treating you kindly in your part of the world and that if you had to turn your clocks forward it didn’t drive you bonkers. Resetting all those electronic devices can be tricky. I posted at graphic over at Facebook’s Starship JJ Green illustrating the problems people face. I have to confess I often resorted to the ‘I can wait six months’ strategy.

But let’s get back to business. I’ll be redrafting Daughter of Discord soon to send to my lovely editor, Lacey (who has a new website, by the way). The book goes live next month. If you’d like a free copy to review, please write to me at jenny@jjgreenauthor.com with a link to a review you’ve left on Star Mage Exile on Amazon. I’m excited to be finally launching a new series!

I’m also talking to a cover artist about creating covers for my second new series, Space Colony One.  I’ll need your opinion on those, so please check your emails over the next couple of weeks.

Also check out the awesome 99-cent books this week – two new series starters – and the Instafreebie free sci-fi books below.

A.I. Zombie

The residents of Celestica Space Station really do live on the edge (of the known universe, and next to a supermassive black hole). And everybody knows, the farther you get from the civilized universe, the closer you are to the monsters that lurk in deep space.

Prepare for snarky sci-fi with mystery, mayhem, and monsters.

Lyra is a plucky doctor at the hospital that serves Celestica and the surrounding moons and planets. Like most of the residents on Celestica, she’s running from her past. That makes her extra motivated to protect the present. Living this far from the civilized universe though, anything and everything can go wrong. The only question is, what will it be this time?

In this case, it’s a mysterious new patient brought in from a nearby planet. And also, a mutant rat that starts a bar fight. The mysteries just keep stacking up, and it’s up to Lyra and her oddball friends to figure out what’s going on before it’s too late.

This story has mutant rats, orc miners, a head of security that looks like the Predator, and a very cool jellyfish named Gorb. And also, an A.I. Zombie.
