Apparently, the third week in January is the most depressing week of the year. The holiday season is over, New Year’s resolutions have fallen by the wayside, and spring seems far away. I hope this doesn’t apply to you, but in case you need cheering up, today’s ship’s bulletin is devoted to free science fiction books.

Firstly, if you missed your free Christmas gift, exclusive to shipmates, pop over here to collect your anthology of humorous Christmas stories, starring the incorrigible Carrie Hatchett.

Next, pick up the two free science fiction books below.

Then, after reading the latest J.J. Green publishing news, take a peek at the ship’s cat, who was angling for a warm lap to invade and occupy.

Mission Improbable, Carrie Hatchett, Space Adventurer book 1

If you like Dr. Who, you’ll love Mission Improbable.

Carrie Hatchett’s been a dog walker, ice cream seller, and birthdaygram girl—the clean kind. All she wants is a proper job. But Transgalactic Intercultural Community Crisis Liaison Officer isn’t what she had in mind. And neither is saving the galaxy.

Carrie’s a low-achieving daydreamer. After providing a good home for her butt-ugly dog and crazy cat, her biggest challenge in life is to avoid being fired, again.

But a strange green mist sucks her beneath her kitchen sink, and an unusual clerical error leads to an offer she foolishly doesn’t refuse.

In settling a conflict between the mechanical placktoids and the mysterious oootoon, Carrie reveals a threat to the entire galactic empire.

Generation, Shadows of the Void
Generation, Shadows of the Void

Kickass sci-fi heroine versus deadly aliens.

Growing up as a Martian on Earth has left Jas Harrington solitary, quick-tempered, and with zero tolerance for fools. All plus points when working as a chief security officer aboard prospecting starships.

Jas’ latest berth is aboard the Galathea, which trawls the reaches of the galaxy seeking precious minerals and rare resources. She thinks it’s a routine trip. She’s wrong.

When hostile aliens threaten the crew, Jas’s skills are put to the ultimate test. Can she enlist the help of the only two friends she has? She’s in a race against time to prevent the aliens from achieving their goal: Generation.

Publishing News

Woohoo! The audiobook of The Valiant is finished and has been uploaded to an audiobook distributor, Kobo, and Audible (though it may take some months to pass through the latter’s assessment process). If you’re a Patreon supporter, keep an eye on your emails over the next few days for your free copy as a special thank you for your support.

Planning for 2021 is also well underway. The schedule includes a new online store on the website, the publication of Star Legend books two and three, The Fearless and The Gallant, and at least one more book in both the Space Colony One and Star Mage Saga series, though that’s a conservative estimate. Expect to see more audiobooks too, beginning with the completion of the audio version of Shadows of the Void.

That’s a lot of work, so I’d better get started.
