This week’s ship’s bulletin comes to you from new geostationary orbit coordinates. Yes, that’s right, we’re on starship’s holiday. The starship has temporarily relocated to southern Spain so your captain can visit her parents. It’s also the cabin boy’s last chance to see his grandparents for a while.

It’s been a bittersweet week. The cabin boy entered the final year of teenagerhood on Sunday and we had a lovely party with friends and cake. (The friends attended and the cake got eaten.) The cake was the chocolate brownie raspberry ripple cheesecake I told you about in an earlier bulletin. See a pic at the bottom if you can’t remember.

This week’s bulletin is about changes. As well as, hopefully, some blessed rain on the horizon - see the pic at the bottom of the bulletin - there are other changes ahead aboard the starship. Some stories are drawing to a close while others are only just beginning....

The Galathea Chronicles is an oldie but a goodie. It’s the first three books of the Shadows of the Void series and it’s going back to paid soon, so don’t miss out on snapping this one up even if your TBR list is heaving.

One of the most common questions readers ask is where writers get their ideas. Personally speaking, the answer is everywhere! Anything and everything could be the inspiration for a story, from something overheard at the pub to an episode of a show I once saw on television as a child. For example, for the Star Legend series, I drew on the many books I’d read as part of my lifelong passion for Arthurian legend and archaeological discoveries, such as the artifacts found at the famous Anglo-Saxon burial site, Sutton Hoo.
